Thank god for Fanboy mailing lists

Dear Angel Fans,
Because many of you missed portions of Wednesday’s “Orpheus” episode of Angel due to breaking news, we are offering you another opportunity to see it this coming Sunday, March 23, at 9/8c. This replaces the previously scheduled airing of the movie “Blade.”

Captain Tightpants on Buffy?

Nathan Fillion (news) is joining the cast of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer (news – Y! TV),” taking on a key role in the final five episodes of the about-to-wrap series.
Fillion, who most recently starred in “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon’s short-lived Fox television drama “Firefly,” will play Caleb, a man of God who’s…

Well, all the rest of the story is spoilers. If you want to read the rest, it’s over here.

Very interesting article

Regards the swatting of Firefly.

Some of you may think this is only in my imagination; and to be sure, I do not imagine that Joss Whedon has sat down and thought about the rule of honor as I have, or would even support or espouse it, as I do, other than as a fictional device for the development of one of his characters. And yet there it is; consciously or not, it is in there, and it underlies every single thing that Reynolds does. Honor is his roadmap in life, his way of finding his way through the wilderness. It says to him at every turn: This thing I can do and live with myself; this thing I can’t.

I don’t know that I agree with everything the guy writes, but he’s got some excellent points about the show, the American Television machine, and even about how history is being rewritten as an ongoing exercise.

Because hey, it’s just March… I wasn’t doing anything else with it.

Having trouble revising your novel? Nanoedmo provides the support and deadline pressurefor one solid revision. Editing starts March 1. Just clock 50 hours of actual rewriting by midnight, March 31, and you’re a winner.

Am I doing this? Oh heck yeah. If people are interested, I’ll crank WiD back up and participants can use it as a forum. Let me know if you’re interested in participating and I’ll set you up (if you need to be set up — most of the WiD-ows are still able to post).

CNN.com Put a stake in it: Gellar leaving ‘Buffy’.
Bears-cave.com – Eh. I never really though Gellar was the best part of that show… in a number of ways she was something I had to deal with in order to enjoy something else, so I wouldn’t be adverse to a spin-off.
That said, it’s been a great run (certainly one that will keep even minor recurring characters in pizza and beer for the rest of their lives even if they never work again, thanks to syndication) with some fantastic moments, and I’m looking forward to the next thing from both the cast and Whedon.
In other news, Firefly is still cancelled while Birds of Prey airs it’s 2-hour season (not series) finale this week.
Translation, there is no justice (or taste) in the television industry.
