Jake – doyce testerman
I’m going to tell you about a life. Somewhere in the middle of July, 2000, a puppy was born. I didn’t know about him at the time. I wasn’t even thinking about puppies. I had no plans to get a puppy. That’s just as well as, due to a few complications, this particular puppy – who luckily came into …

So beautifully written. Jake would be barking to Glory when dog god tells him about how many people's lives are touched by his master's tribute. M scared of facing that day with My 10month old Tyson. Too attached already!
Oh jeez. Somethin' in my eye.
A touching article and a wonderful tribute to your best friend. I have a 10yr old Australian Shepherd. I suppose he may have 3 or 4 more years with me. I dread the day of his passing.
That is the most heartbreaking story I've ever read. I had to stop reading for a few minutes to cope with the lump in my throat.
Thank you for sharing your beautifully written story, sitting here, balling my eyes out, I thank you. A true tale of man and his best friend.
Thanks 4 sharing, Doyce. My Lola (she's my sister's, but 2 me, she's "mine") is a 10 yrs old Boxer w/advanced cancer, so her time will come much, much too soon. Like Jake, Lola's also a big puppy: every time I visit she jumps on my lap-all 65 lbs. of her! Maybe she'll meet Jake up there! I just hope we've made her as happy as u made Jake.
Thanks Doyce, for sharing your story about Jake. I cried like a baby when I read it, as well as some of the many comments in response to you. I have a lil shichi, shiatsu/chichauhau hybrid that's nearly four. I love my fur baby boy so much that I do believe I would be a basket case if anything happened to his. I am so sorry for you're loss. For you & others grieving for a beloved pet, there is a place online you can go for comfort. At. 1800petmeds.com, Bella, the pomeranian puppy from their TV commercial, has her own blog. About a year ago, she blogged about her human parents having lost their older dog, & the 'Rainbow Bridge', etc
What a wonderful tribute to Jake. We had a Jake too. We now have three dogs, an 11 year old, a 10 year old and a 3 year old. Your story made me cry, but my 3 year old is making sure I'm petting him and not crying too much. Enjoy your memories!
hi
I teared up a bit, then woke my dog up to hug her. Dogs make us better people, if we let them.
hi
I lost my girl yesterday. The pain is immense. I choose to believe, they are frolicking like puppies in heaven and will be there for us again when the time comes. Peace.
