In a few weeks, we’re going to have a contest that has to do with that cover design, actually, and you’ll be able to see the shoebox full of broken bits of glass and torn scraps of fabric (read: my suggestions) that Shannon rebuilt into this fabulous thing.

The book design is by Shannon Plunkett who, with all due respect to HarperCollins, is not getting paid enough (regardless of whatever she’s getting paid).

both of my kids have had to have tubes (and my youngest the adnoids). It was really scary, but I have to say one of the best things we did. My little guy had never slept through the night and a little less than a week post surgery, he was sleeping. I felt terrible that we didn’t know it was making him so miserable at night.

I had more or less exactly the same issue when I was about three or four – fluid in the wrong places, damping down the bits that are meant to vibrate to make hearing work. I had the procedure you describe several times (at one point they were so worried about the lack of improvement that I had a brain scan to check that the problem really was my ears, and not my brain). I turned out fine, and I’m sure your little guy will be fine too.

Dammit Testerman, you just HAD to make me tear-up, didn’t you!
As a father of three grown kids, I can relate… and empathize- thus the tears, more at you getting him back than at the problems he’s facing now.
I truly hope it all comes out ok. He was a beautiful baby and he’s grown into a beautiful boy.
