Things I learned from Firefly, 7

[Last general one, then I’m moving on to specific episodes.]

The Bible is complex book, full of contraditions, sure, but filled with commentary on a great number of topics:

  • It is quite racy when discussing the subject of plows.
  • It is quite specific on the subject of killing.
  • It’s a mite fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

Nathan Fillion, Morena Baccarin, Gina Torres and Adam Baldwin pose at the Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention.
A few comments:

  • Morena looks better in jeans than I think she ever did in Inara’s dresses.
  • Gina Torres is so goddamned cool.
  • Adam Baldwin… you can just tell this guy loves the show (note t-shirt). During the production, you could count on a comment from him almost daily on the Firefly bboards.
  • Nathan… *ahem*. Nathan might need to hit the gym to earn his Captain Tightpants moniker back. </snarky>

Quotable

See, the real geeks have favorite Firefly quotes from the commentary tracks as well as the show itself. My current favorite is from Joss Whedon on The Train Job:

… and here we see Kaylee roll out from underneath some piece of ship’s equipment covered in grease, which is how we quickly tell everyone what her job is. Rolling out from under something covered in grease is Esperanto for ‘mechanic’.
