Rockin’ Shutdown Eve
Yeah, it’s 24 hours ago, but it’s still the most pointed coverage of the GOP Shutdown. Jon Stewart’s Rockin’ Shutdown Eve If President Obama can make a deal with the most intransigent mullahs in the world but not with House Republicans, maybe he is not the problem. View this post on Google+
"I shouldn't have to offer anything
"I shouldn't have to offer anything. They're not doing me a favor by paying for things that they have already approved for the government to do. That's part of their basic function of government; that's not doing me a favor. That's doing what the American people sent them here to do, carrying out their responsibilities."

Note to self. Buy a bunch of Bertolli. Those are some great ads.

Indie bookstores on the rise
The number of members of the American Booksellers’ Association is slowly creeping up, a welcome sign after a steep decline from 5500 members in 1995 to 2191 in 2002.
The worst part is it's the good ones that run, and the bad ones that hang around
I hate that they added added a gigantic Google Doodle search bar to my "recently visited" new tab page
From Google: "Why are we doing this? Lots of our users go to the New Tab Page, navigate to a search engine, and then type in the search. We wanted to take a step out of the process."
What idiocy. Someone should tell them (Google and those users) about the omnibar.
Anyway, I figured out how to get rid of the Google Doodle garbage.
1. Go to chrome://flags
2. Find:
Enable Instant Extended API Mac, Windows, Chrome OS
Enables the Instant Extended API which provides a deeper integration with your default search provider, including a renovated New Tab Page, extracting search query terms in the omnibox, a spruced-up omnibox dropdown and Instant previews of search results as you type in the omnibox.
3. Set it to 'Disabled'.
You'll sacrifice the other minor features (stuff I know I'll never miss) that came in alongside the updated Recently Viewed page, but in my opinion it's a small price to pay to not be punished because some blinkered Chrome users can't figure out how to use the frigging omnibar.
