Soo…why do we know who said that?
I find it amusing that it's so difficult to give proper credit for this quote.
No one seems to know when or where Truman said this and, in fact, it's probably just a rephrasing of: "The way to get things done is not to mind who gets the credit."
The oldest attribution or something in that vein seems to be:
“There is no limit to what a man can do so long as he does not care a straw who gets the credit for it.” Charles Edward Montague, Disenchantment (1922).
