{"id":196,"date":"2008-03-17T12:50:11","date_gmt":"2008-03-17T12:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/doycetesterman.com\/wp\/?p=196"},"modified":"2008-03-17T12:50:11","modified_gmt":"2008-03-17T12:50:11","slug":"a-brief-aside-on-usage-within-the-english-language","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doycetesterman.com\/index.php\/2008\/03\/a-brief-aside-on-usage-within-the-english-language\/","title":{"rendered":"A brief aside on usage within the English language."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.doycetesterman.com\/img\/no-thumb-150x150.gif\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"mt-image-left\" style=\"float: left; margin: 0 20px 20px 0;\"\/>Specifically, this: there are a few words that should never, under any circumstances, be linked together in a coherent sentence.<br \/>\n&#8220;Toddler&#8221; and &#8220;beauty pageant.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;Jalape\u00f1o&#8221; and &#8220;chowder.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;Collectible card game&#8221; and &#8220;investment.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;Quick&#8221; and &#8220;corporate response time.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8230; just to name a few off the top of my head.<br \/>\nThe local cafeteria has taken this St. Patrick&#8217;s Day as an opportunity to teach me another must-not.<br \/>\n&#8220;Corned beef&#8221; and &#8220;panini.&#8221;<br \/>\nIreland and Italy are geographically separated for a <em>reason<\/em>, people, and at least one of those reasons is culinary in nature.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>It was a relatively quiet weekend at Casa Testerman &#8212; our date night consisted of some we-time together on Lord of the Rings Online, which is something I didn&#8217;t even realize I&#8217;d missed (quite alot); Saturday consisted mostly of some game-time over at the Consortium (much delayed, and fun); Sunday was some very satisfying house-cleaning, getting to know a few folks online, and the start of some new fiction exercises for myself.<br \/>\nThis week, I&#8217;m wrapping up a course-design project that is both production-piece and application for more work. It&#8217;s coming together fairly well &#8212; I think it&#8217;s stronger than anything I&#8217;ve done lately, but then again I probably *should* think that.   Wedding plans continue to compress into the remaining time available. (Less than a month!)<br \/>\n<b>Recently read:<\/b> Neil Gaiman&#8217;s <em><strong>1602<\/strong><\/em>, Joe Straczynski&#8217;s <strong><em>Lost Souls<\/em><\/strong>, some more of Alan Moore&#8217;s <em><strong>Lost Girls<\/strong><\/em>, and some short fiction by Robert Howard.  Also, we&#8217;ve been watching the first season of <strong><em>Bones<\/em><\/strong>; not the best of all television, but by far and away the most entertaining &#8216;crime scene expertise&#8217; show I&#8217;ve watched.
