{"id":1321,"date":"2009-04-10T09:05:07","date_gmt":"2009-04-10T15:05:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/doycetesterman.com\/?p=1321"},"modified":"2009-04-10T09:05:07","modified_gmt":"2009-04-10T15:05:07","slug":"summed-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/doycetesterman.com\/index.php\/2009\/04\/summed-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Summed up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The tagline on this website is there for a reason.\u00a0 For a very very long time previous, it said something about Falling Down, and while that Something is still true, it&#8217;s not entirely relevant as an introduction (and warning) about what goes on with this site.<\/p>\n<p>For those who know me (and who inexplicably choose not to flee as soon as they figure this out) it&#8217;s a familiar joke &#8211; wondering aloud about whatever my current obsession might be, or how one of my nigh-on-neverending projects is going.\u00a0 (My obsessions change often, but I am constant in my affections.)<\/p>\n<p>Paul Tevis (whose podcasts I&#8217;ve enjoyed for quite awhile, but whose blog I&#8217;ve only just discovered) summed the whole problem up very nicely in <a href=\"http:\/\/paultevis.com\/2009\/03\/30\/things-and-time\/\">this post, in which he inadvertently reveals that we share the same brain<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Time is a problem for a dabbler like me. When I want to do something, I want to do it well. I\u2019ve learned enough to know that if I want to do it well, I need to do it regularly. There are only so many hours in the week, which means that if I want to do something, I need to <em>not<\/em> do something else. The problem is that I want to do everything.
